Art Foundation Week 3
This week has been about developing a journal, or rather, developing a string of thoughts and documenting it in a sketchbook.
I have never been able to keep a journal. The refusal to accept any standard short of perfection - perfectionism - is the biggest obstacle I have to face when it comes to working creatively.
Throughout these last two weeks, I have often found myself stuck - not because I don't have an idea, but because I am afraid to carry out the idea and realise that it falls short of my own expectations.
I admit I haven't yet been able to overcome this fear, but I feel that each day on the foundation course is giving me a gentle push to find the courage I am lacking: to realise an idea, to fall short of the expectations, to experiment, to make mistakes, and to learn something new.
The following video I made was in response to a bug and a feather I found earlier this month.
